"Together We Empower

Students to Succeed"

Robotics Club Accepts First Grant Award

Thanks to a generous donation from private donors, Harrisburg Robotics Club became our first official recipient of foundation funds. Robotics Club is a new STEM-base after school program offered once per week by Harrisburg Middle School teacher, Ms Rivas. Currently 16 students in grades 5 - 8 have committed to the program for the 2019-20 school year. Students collaborate with their peers to work on 21st century skills such as building, coding, and programming. The VEX IQ Robotics system allows students to assemble a robot and programmed the robot to move, as well as to program various sensors including light, sound, and touch. Within the next year, as a program continues to grow, Harrisburg students will have the opportunity to attend competitions in hopes of qualifying for state or national competition. This system allows our students to become natural problem solvers and it challenges them in preparation for high school and beyond.
